Overview

Kick off your tour in Yangon, the former capital and the largest city in Myanmar. Pagodas and Buddha statues will be seen everywhere including the 2000 year old Sule Pagoda, gilded in gold. See all the major attractions and more. Next stop is Bagan where you can see the UNESCO protected Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple and take a tour to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano, known to be home to ‘spirits’, and if your feeling energetic, climb the stairs to the top of the volcanic plug. Next stop is Mandalay, where we will go to Kuthodaw Pagoda

Itinerary

Day 1

ARRIVE YANGON

Arrive at Yangon International Airport. Welcome by our tour guide. Transfer to hotel. Yangon sightseeing tour includes the old colonial style city center with the gilded Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years. Bogyoke (Scotts) Market with hundreds of stores and gem shops. The tour continue to Chaukhtatgyi, a huge reclining Buddha image, extended visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s most spectacular religious monuments. The golden dome of Shwedagon Pagoda rises 98 meters above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold. Overnight at your hotel in Yangon.

Day 2

YANGON – BAGAN

After breakfast, transfer to the airport Shwedagon Pagoda port for a domestic flight to Bagan. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Sightseeing tour starting with the busy local market and continuing with visits to a diverse selection of the most important Pagodas and temples, such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century, Kubyanuk Gyi, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, and Ananda Temple with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior. Continue sightseeing to Manuha Temple, built in Mon Style in 1095, Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument, said to have been the palace of King Manuha. Move on to Myingaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, noted for its ancient mural paintings under the protection of UNESCO. Proceed to Shwesandaw Stupa to watch sunset over the Ayeyarwaddy River. Day 3

BAGAN – MT. POPA – BAGAN

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Mandalay. Drive to Amarapura. Visit 200 year old U Bein’s Teak Wood Bridge. Then proceed to Mahagandaryon Monastery where there are more than 1500 Buddhist monks. Then proceed to Mahamuni Pagoda with its spectacular Buddha image covered with thick layers of gold leaf, Gold-leaf beating, Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung or Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Mandalay Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s biggest book, consisting of 729 marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Among the historical buildings are craftsmen’s workshops such as Bronze casting, Marble carving, Kalaga tapestries, etc. should be seen. Sunset from Mandalay Hill. Overnight at a hotel in Mandalay.

Day 4

MANDALAY – MINGUN – YANGON

Boat trip on the Ayayyarwaddy River to Mingun about 11 km upriver from Mandalay with visits to the Pathodawgyi Paya, one of the world’s largest chedis built by King Bodaw Paya. Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tons is the largest uncracked bell in the world. And then on to Myatheindan Zedi. In the afternoon, fly back to Yangon. Overnight at your hotel in Yangon

Day 5

DEPARTURE

Time at leisure to pursue individual interests until your transfer to the airport. Your guide will pick you up the at your hotel and accompany you to the airport. Departure from Yangon. End of Heritages of Myanmar.
