Located in Dagon, Yangon, the National Museum of Myanmar was founded in 1952 in order to conserve the values of art, history and culture in Myanmar. The museum has an abundant collection of ancient artworks, artifacts, ornaments, inscriptions and historic memorabilia, which related to the history, culture and civilization of Burmese people. It was first opened in 1952 and located at the Jubilee Hall Building on Shwedagon Pagoda Road, Yangon. And then, in 1996, the museum was enlarged and moved to Pansodan Street. There are four halls on the first floor of this museum. The first hall displays the royal regalia, the second hall contains many exhibits of historic significance, the third hall shows us the pre-historic times of Myanmar, and the fourth hall contains exhibits on natural history. There are also many other halls, which show us the Buddha’s stories and the wonderful ornamented objects that played a significant role in important royal ceremonies of ancient kings throughout Myanmar history.
