Pyin Oo Lwin

Considered as the Myanmar’s Highland City of Flowers, Pyin Oo Lwin (formerly Maymyo) is a scenic hill town in Mandalay Division, Myanmar. It is located in the Shan Highland, about 67 kilometers east of Mandalay and 1070 meters above the sea level. Pyin Oo Lwin is known for its different species and colorful flowers grown intensively and a special system of resorts.

Myingyan

Myingyan is a city and district in the Mandalay Division of central Myanmar, previously, it was a district in the Meiktila Division of Upper Burma. It is currently the capital of Myingyan Township and lies along the National Highway 2. As of 2002, the city had a population of 123,700 and the district had 580,000.

Mandalay

Mandalay is Myanmar’s second-largest city and the former royal capital of the Burmese kingdom. The city is modernising rapidly, due to an influx of Chinese money and businessmen, and while facilities are improving the charm of old Mandalay is receding. A good place to start a visit here is to hike up the 780-feet high (240m) stairwell to the top of Mandalay Hill, itself a holy site with an ornately decorated temple and Buddha statue overlooking the former capital city and far reaching flatlands.

Lake Inle

Inle Lake, beautifully located at the base of steep green hills, is remarkable because of its inhabitants. Thousands of people live around the lake but, most impressively, many live on it. Whole villages rest on stilts surrounded by water, rather like a bamboo and teak Venice where men steer rowing boats through water roads.

Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery

Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which is located in Inle Lake, is an attractive wooden monastery built at the end of the 1850s. This is an exciting destination thanks to not only its collection of Buddhas but also many cats living here, which can jump through hoops. It takes about 25 minutes to ride a boat to visit this ancient monastery, whichbuilt on huge pieces of teak wood with traditional architecture and see the popular jumping cats leap through the hoops. Nga Phe Chaug is considered as the biggest and oldest monastery on the Inle Lake. The monastery is worth visiting for its historical purposes and architecture as well as its cute cats.

Heho Overview

Heho is a small town in Kalaw Township of Taunggyi District in Shan State and the primary gateway to Inle Lake – the second largest lake of the country. It links to the Taunggyi and Sakangyi through the National Highway No.4. Getting here is quite easy. A flight will quickly take you to the Heho International Airport from Yangon, Mandalay.

Myanma Green Tea

The first and fore most origin of the tea is found in the source of Ayeyarwaddy and spreading the surrounding areas, such as Myanmar Assam border areas, Naga Land, Manipur and Lashi ranges in the eastern parts of Myanmar. In the western parts, China, Northern plateaus of Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Some tea experts said the studying of the south east Asia teas, there is only the ancestors of Myanmar Northern tea origins. The species found in Myanmar were named as Camellia arrawadimis.

Buddhist / Meditation Retreats

The most famous is the Mahasi Meditation Center in Yangon, founded in 1947 by Mahasi Sayadaw, one of Myanmar’s greatest meditation teachers. Some other meditation centers include the International Meditation Centre in Bahan Township, the Chanmyay Yeiktha Meditation Centre in Mayangon Township, the Panditarama Meditation Center in Bahan Township and the Society for Propagation of Vipassana Mogok Sayadaw’s Way in Bahan.
